The city was a little harder to picture, but I guess all one really needs to know is that it's noisy and crowded a stark contrast to Koly's earlier village life. The description was too straight, and emotions were described plainly, not doing much justice to the character and her experiences. I honestly felt so upset for Koly and the way she was treated through out the book. She made traditional Indian society come to life through her descriptions. Her family has been told he is sixteen.
